I’ve talked about desmos in the past, but they, and specifically their founder Eli Luberoff (@eloberoff) have simply outdone themselves this time.
I like to graph food using Desmos, as you can see from my Food Graphs page above. Food makes for the most incredible array of possible mathematical shapes. Last year, I was eating dinner with my kids and realized the potential for graphing our pasta that night. It was Cavatappi pasta.
I graphed it and had a lot of fun doing so…wouldn’t you?
But the other day I was wondering about actually graphing the pasta. Mathematically making the tube happen. So when Eli showed up on a twitter chat I was in, I jumped on the chance to challenge him!
Less than 12 hours later and he comes up with this…and calls it “my best entry.”
@MathDenisNJ @Desmos @GeoffPatterson1 here’s my best entry: https://t.co/pqpUgXpezU

Visit the page for the math. But check this out first. [youtube=http://youtu.be/pHzYeFuOBv8]
You’ve set the bar a bit high, my friend. Thank you for both the support and the inspiration.
